"Doctor Michaels, how do I deal with bitterness affecting my perception of people, relationships, productivity and fulfillment in life?I seem to repel good people."Answer:
Our emotions are immense energies within us that ultimately determine our outlook on life, how we relate with people ,productivity and performance at the workplace ,the events and people we attract and the eventual outcome of our lives.
This is because we are the creators of our realities through our thoughts, emotions, words, and actions as well as the eventual outcome of our lives.
Bitterness is a negative energy. It reduces our productivity, performance. It increases the rate of suspicion and makes us repel good people but attract negative people. It increases the occurrences and events we don't like .
Bitterness is a negative and reactive emotion generated by a victim towards the offender. It generates negative energies, aura or vibe around the person and hence repels positive happy people or events while it attracts negative angry, people.

Hence it negatively affects productivity and performance at the workplace...personal life and relationships as well as interactions with other people because it diverts emotional productive energy towards the offence and less energy towards productive enterprises.
It can precipitate illnesses ,mental health problems, due to stress, loss of appetite, stress hormones ,chemicals, etc
Talking Therapy provides a platform or an avenue to express this bitterness by the victim or the guilt by the offender.
In dealing with bitterness, we need to forgive ourselves for falling prey to the offender (for example).
Secondly, forgive the offender. Not because he or she deserves it but because you need to move forward and be in a state of good health.
Thirdly, forgive God for allowing such offence to take place in the first place.
Fourthly, you need to let go of the offence, because bitterness is a thief and a distraction, you must never accommodate it or else,it will steal your joy and happiness as well as destroy your health till it becomes a heap of rubbish.
Please note, forgiveness does not mean making your heart available for the person to step on again.

You will need to assess the whole situation and the forgiven offender (preferably with the help of therapy).Your assessment will determine whether to make your heart available again or not.
Ask yourself the following questions,
Ask yourself the following questions,
*Can this person handle my heart?
*What are the lessons I have learnt from this situation so far?
*If I'm not to go back to this person so that things can go back to the way they used to be,what are the measures I need to put into place ?
* If I'm to go back to this person so that things can go back to what they used to be,what are the measures I need to put into place to prevent a repeat,to protect my heart and to create what I want in the friendship, business partnership, relationship, marriage etc
In conclusion, people hardly change since it takes a lot including therapy to change. So its dangerous to blindly wish anyone will change for good...so make your choices wisely.
